I cannot remember my first 22 years of life.
I can detect clues to my past throughout my memories when I concentrate: things I remember that I wouldn't normally remember, but are clues nonetheless. The glint of dew off a rose that was probably only real in my mind. The way a cloud moves across a moon that never existed. The scent of a perfume from someone who never was. Flashes of eyes in 100 strangers that all seem familiar, yet not. The clues are specific to my current understanding of myself, but not specific enough to let me deduce my upbringing. This has led me to believe that, at some point in the past, I-- or someone closely associated with me-- erased my memories for some unknown reason.
I don't know if anyone can see or hear this plea. I remember this tree: I remember meeting you here. I hope you will remember this knothole. "C & W"? I hope you find this note, and that you can fill in some of the gaps in my memories.

Note: I am Captain Hadrick Briarwolf, my lords -- The following is from the inmate Szal Veilwinter's personal journal from early in his evil career. I'm not sure of the date, but this must have been a while ago. The location has been scrubbed out by your gracious hand, I am assuming. It is the first time he mentions the "purple-eyed fox."
Dear journal: I have found it! I found the secret district! I have the item in my hand: the beautiful robe, right here in my possession!
When I finally arrived in the secret district, I had to catch my breath for a moment: it took six months, but I found it. My rat companions were with me and, bless them for they are not stupid, but they were so naive when we arrived. I hope they are enjoying their payment, for that is the only delight they found in that "forbidden" place.

Summer's Kiss“Beautiful!” The first word to find its way to Alicia's lips as she beheld the radiant ball of dancing energy breaching the heavenly skies with its life giving rays. Stimulating yet oddly soothing, its heat absorbed into her fur, spreading the warmth throughout her being. Mother Nature's Kiss! Her name for the sensation now caressing her silky skin. Like a long estranged family member working their way back into the lives of their loved ones, so too did the returning summer. Spring had paid its due, clearing snow, blooming flowers, and inviting all manner of Earth's lovely little creatures out of their winter dens. Now it too could enjoy a well deserved break. Summer took its shift, and now came orientation, finding its foot work with the basics. Alicia had no complaints. Her sensitive nose took in the subtle aroma of morning due, still lingering, clinging to fresh leaves and greeneries. More words flooded through the content possum girl's mind. Tranquil. Bountiful.
